I can't thank enough my wife for offering me this set.
The building is a long and fun process; it took me about 6 hours to finish it. The pieces come in numbered bags and this helps a lot saving time.
The result is a true masterpiece. The outriggers work really well and have a 'clic' position that locks them into place when fully deployed. Steering is assured by 6 turning wheels. The hand of god steering wheel is situated in the back of the crane, this change from the usual top position.
The main attraction of this set is the crane section. The crane vertical movement is made by 2 pneumatic cylinders, this is perhaps the weakest point of the set since the extending boom is quite heavy, 4 cylinders would have been better.
The rope & boom extension is made with the help of a single motor. A clever level mechanism is used to switch function. The best part is that the ropes extend automatically when the boom extent to avoid a lock is the rope is too short, brilliant!
