Flawed but cool
Here is my second big sized mech of 2007. I must say that I wasn't too excited by this set when I first saw it. I found the sword horrible and the 4 wings quite goofy.
Now, after 20 minutes of building (including stickers pose) here are my final thoughts.
The general look is quite ok. As I mentioned above, the sword is terrible, one plain piece, it looks too thin to be menacing. They should have done a cool sword like the blue mech in the Sentai Fortress set. Now THAT was a sword.
On the other hand sits the zamor spheres launcher, terrible too but I accept a playability feature if the other hand provides a cool weapon. In this mech it's not the case, too bad.
The feet are not as bad as the feet in the Blade Titan, they look sleeker and a little less massive. The legs are quite detailed with the inclusion of 4 yellow jet motors and 2 tubes to make good measure. Good point, I love details
On the cockpit: As in the Blade Titan, there is room for controls but none are present. With the spare room you can make the minifig sit... great... But then I realised that maybe it's a feature to permit the robots to stand in it, in the case they steal it from the humans? Let's say this. Otherwise the cockpit is nicely detailed and provides a great protection for the pilot. I love the 2 turbines and 2 headlights.
The arms are standard with Bionicle ball joints, one little missile is included in each forearm, probably to covert that horrible Bionicle piece.
The 4 blue wings that I feared, in the final are no so bad. The goofiness of them is dependant on the pose of the mech. They can look ok or they can look stupid, it's up to you :-)
Overall, I can recommend it, Taken individually, there are flaws, but the mix of the flaws makes a good looking machine (!?). Now that's an interesting conclusion!
