Not quite Lego but cool nonetheless
This was a set that I really wanted to give a try. I knew it was not real Lego, I knew it had some flaws but I couldn't resist as a fan of all that is Radio controlled. So, a fun RC car + Lego brand = sold for me.
Sold is a big word since the price tag is incredibly high and totally unrealistic. I waited until I found a good promotion. At 40% of the official price it was a good deal.
Enough with my life, here are my thoughts on the set.
The model is very heavy and incredibly sturdy. It jumped of some stairs without a scratch. The pieces used allow some stretching of the body, and as the box said it can really take a serious beating.
There are 3 speeds that can be changed with the radio unit, nice feature. Unfortunately when you change the speed to low, there isn't more torque; basically it's just the motor that turn slower. Speaking of torque, there is a massive amount on reserve here; at dead stop I was able to climb a plastic slide at nearly 30.
The top speed of 22 km/h is just perfect, not too slow and not too high for a child.
The colour scheme is cool and the big green wheels are really impressive.
My only real complain about this set is that the direction is not fully proportional but has only 3 positions; it makes precise direction changing at full speed quite difficult.
My final though is that it's a very good set to be introduced in the world of Radio controlled models (my childs loves it), but absolutely not at full price.
Score: 8/10
